Reclaimed wafers

Contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions

AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION & PRODUCTION CLIMATE ACTION

Our reclaimed wafer business, which is the core business of our Semiconductor Division alongside our prime wafer processing business, is responsible for ensuring that wafers can be used more than once by recovering test wafers and monitor wafers used by semiconductor device manufacturers, and restoring them to the same quality as new test wafers using Mimasu’s wafer reclaim technology. This allows device manufacturers to reduce the amount of new test wafers used by using reclaimed wafers. This greatly reduces the amount of silicon material and power required to manufacture new test wafers, thereby reducing the impact on the global environment.

CO2 emissions reduction benefit by using reclaimed wafers

The following chart shows the amount of CO2 reductions obtained by replacing new test wafers with reclaimed wafers. The amount of CO2 emissions produced when manufacturing reclaimed wafers is approximately 1/8 of those produced when manufacturing new test wafers, contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

The amount of CO2 emissions reduced through the use of reclaimed wafers exceeds the total amount of CO2 emissions produced by our entire company.
